It’s been more than 6 years that I decided to take my health in hand and change my lifestyle.
As a result, I managed to lose 20 pounds of fat and keep it lasting.
Here are the seven habits I followed, which made a huge difference on my weight loss journey.
If you want to lose weight, or if you simply want to feel healthier and more energized, I strongly recommend that you introduce some into your routine:
I ask permission of my body.
During my weight loss, I was so determined to become fit and slim that I practiced like crazy, even though my body was asking me to stop many times.
I ignored my fatigue and pains and continued to move forward.
I was proud that my mind was so strong and I could persevere. I ignored my body until one day I could not ignore it anymore.
I hurt my knees and it was painful to walk, not to mention squats, lunges or running.
Never ignore what your body is trying to tell you.
Now, I ask permission from my body: “Can I still do 10 minutes of cardio? Sometimes he says yes, and sometimes he just tells me to stretch.
Sometimes, when I’m tired and I’m not sure I have to go to the gym, my body tells me to go to bed.
I’m learning something new every day.
I have a list of personal and professional skills that I want to learn this year or in the next five years.
I devote a few hours a day to their learning.
I watch video lessons online or I read books that will help me progress in certain areas.
These skills can be speaking in public, designing websites, learning a new language, mastering photography or writing … it will depend on you.
Ask yourself what skills will help you progress in life?
Identify them, prepare a plan to learn them, and commit at least one hour a day to study.
I take a green smoothie in the breakfast every day
Green leafy vegetables are extremely healthy because they provide large amounts of minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and enzymes.
It is therefore essential to include a lot in your diet if you want to become healthier and lose weight.
I meditate every day for 20 minutes.
Many studies have shown that meditation helps to relieve stress.
Since emotional consumption and stress are some of the main causes of being overweight, a simple meditation practice can make a huge difference.
I started meditating in 2012 and wanted to sit in silence for at least 20 minutes a day.
It has made a huge difference in my life: understanding my behavior, managing stress, changing my eating habits and finding my purpose in life.
I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their life.
I simplified my diet.
The food does not have to be complicated.
I take a green juice in the morning.
I eat fruits in the first part of the day.
Then I eat just prepared vegetables, often with beans.
Choose foods that you like to eat that are good for your health.
Cook in large quantities and prepare food in advance. To eat to live; do not live to eat.
I train regularly.
This is an important and enjoyable part of my routine and I feel that something is missing in my day if I do not exercise.
Exercise is good for your physical and mental health, your mood and your productivity.
It also helps burn calories and eliminate excess fat faster.
Find something you enjoy doing, whether it's yoga, lifting weights, dancing, tennis, swimming, zumba, or running.
It is vital that you move in a way that makes you happy; otherwise your efforts to exercise will not last for long.
I wake up early.
Changing the rhythm by waking up at 5 am made all the difference on my energy level, productivity and mood.
I practice yoga watching the sun rise. I feel full of energy and connected to a higher power.
We all need energy, but energy does not come only from food.
We can generate energy by controlling our attention, staying alert, choosing to see the beauty of others and making the decision to be happy and positive every day.
