Apple cider vinegar has been known for thousands of years and has many uses and benefits. Already in 400 BC, the father of medicine, Hippocrates, prescribed apple cider vinegar with honey to treat diseases including coughs and colds. Most recently, celebrities like Heidi Klum, Miranda Kerr and Megan Fox have used it for weight loss.
Why apple cider vinegar works
Drinking a glass of water with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar before a meal helps curb your appetite. It also helps encourage hydrochloric acid, which we need to break down our food so that it is better absorbed and digested.
Apple cider vinegar can help control your blood sugar.
It contains several antioxidants, which are a real benefit for you because they strengthen your body’s immune system and help you fight disease.
Combined with a balanced diet, it can help regulate your pH levels, that is, your body’s acid-base balance. We need a slightly alkaline environment to stay away from disease, including cancer, autoimmune diseases and the common cold.
It is rich in acetic acid which helps your body absorb minerals.
Please keep in mind that not all kinds of apple cider vinegar have the same properties. Above all, choose organic cider vinegar, unpasteurized, with “the mother” mentioned on the label, so as to reap all the benefits.
